Yarn, Cider, And Bed Clothes On The Line

Random Thoughts

Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending. — Carl Bard

I think what I like about this challenge to refocus your outlook is the goal of reworking the ending.

Life At Our House

Saturday was a rare sunny day with a brisk breeze.  I decided to take advantage of it by washing all the clothes my bed wears and hanging them outside on the line. It may be the last time I get to do this before spring.  I did have to do battle with all the falling leaves and baby spiders that wanted to hitchhike into the house.  But it was worth it.  Ahhhhh, that wonderful sundried smell!

I have sinus issues so tissue boxes are part of the household decor.  And so many of them are just butt ugly.  I was looking at the boxes and trying to figure out a way to cover them up and then the light bulb went off.  YARN!  So I found some free patterns and used a gift card I had for JoAnn’s and bought some yarn.  Here is the result:

I am disappointed the colors are not as bright in the livingroom where I keep this.

With the rest of the yarn I made another bag for my Tarot cards.

We had our first batch of Hot Sweet Cider tonight.  Yummmmm….

Yeah. We had already scarfed half of this by the time I took this picture.

Hey, Saver!  The recipe for this is already on the blog.  Go down to categories and click on Cider!

Out In The Yard

Once or twice a year we get a grey squirrel trespassing in our yard.  Usually just running out and yelling at them as soon as we see them will chase them off for another year.  We’re willing to share some bird food with the red squirrels, but not the greys.  The reds have been having trouble around here and the greys will run them off.  So when this guy came calling for the second day in a row, the Husband went out with the BB gun to scare it off.  No, he didn’t kill it or wound it.  Scare only.

I also got to watch doves splashing around in the bird bath a couple of days ago.

This is our header for today.  Rudebeckia or Black-Eyed Susan.  I scored these for $1 a piece from Lowe’s clearance rack.  They were beat up and broken a bit from a storm but bounced back nicely.

Not A Mug

This is one of my fall candle holders. It's terra cotta with leaf cutouts.

Soooooo, now it’s 12:15 pm.   Grrrrrr.  First my pics wouldn’t transfer into Media.  Then they would show in the draft but not in Media.  Then when I posted this the first time, it ate pictures AND text.  *Sigh*  I wonder what will happen this time?  Please post…

Lots of Feather Messages

Random Thoughts

Feathers have been roaming around in my thoughts lately.  Over the past couple of weeks I have been finding feathers in my yard on a regular basis.  A number of them were standing at attention in the grass.  Some light and fluffy ones showed up around my feet.  One slightly beat up feather was left by a dove watching me at the window.  After looking me over, the dove shook itself and reached down and pulled the feather out.  She/he then looked at me again, dropped the feather on the ground and, with one last look, flew away.

Many people believe that feathers are gifts from the Universe bringing messages.  That they bring us an opportunity or reminder to connect, to see, to find answers.  A message, also, that Love and assistance are there for the asking.  We just need to remember that we need not walk alone.  Easier said than done.

When was the last time you sat down quietly and went within to seek your messages and to ask for Love and assistance to be brought into your life?  When was the last time you sat quietly and gave Thanks to the Universe?  I know I’m way over due.

I was outside trying to get good pictures with natural light. That little fluffy feather is also a Blue Jay feather but the wind kicked up and started blowing the feathers around so that was the end of outdoor picture taking of feathers.

Life At Our House

Lots of messes here need to be addressed.  But for now, here is what I have been snacking on:

Husband made these for work by request. And, of course, some were left behind at home.

Out In The Yard

It is the end of the year, unfortunately.

This poor butterfly showed up at night and slept in the window. He's rather beat up.

Have I mentioned how much I dislike winter?

Mugs

Yep, back to this one. The past couple of nights have not been fun.

And, WOW!, it’s only 9:30!  I’ll have time to work on crocheting a tissue box cover!  Night!

Weather, Back Pain, a Little Bit of Work Done

 Random Thoughts

Not a whole lot to talk about today.  I’m still fighting with my back.  It’s amazing how tired pain makes you.  And when you can’t sleep properly, it just gets worse from there.

I found this saying rifling through some papers I had and it startled a laugh out of me.  And a, “Yeah, right”.  And an eye roll.  But still…

Life At Our House

WOO HOO!  I finished my monthly boxes!  I’m going to print out the inventory and add up the teapots and mugs.  I know I have over 40 teapots.  I’m going to split February in half so I can have January out for at least a little while.  My favorite winter teapot is in January.  But first Christmas needs to be put away.  February 2 (Candlemas) is looming.  Yikes!

We did get one thing done this weekend.  The Christmas dishes have been washed and put away.

I can't remember when I bought these. I just remember they were on clearance...

Out In The Yard

I am really tired of this screwy weather.  Here is three days ago:

Snow, snow, snow

Snow, snow, snow

And more snow.

It has now been raining for 2 straight days.  It made it up to 68 degrees today.  And guess what I found?

Daffodils in freaking January.

And my white star shaped flowers whose name escapes me. These have been dug up by my neighbors cats &%@#&. Can you see the paw print in the mud?

And by tomorrow morning it is supposed to be back down to 27 degrees.  WTF?  My poor plants!

Mug of the Day

The following mug was given to me by my BFF when I was in college.  It survived all these years and, if I counted right, 11 moves.  Now Saver of Bugs has it at college with her.  And my BFF is her honorary Auntie.  Long live the blue horse mug!

This mug is so awesome. Sorry about the pic quality though, the camera's not the best.
